Game: Portal 2 (Valve, 2011)

I will go out on a limb here and say I preferred the first game to this one. Whilst it's a given that the first will always seem more fresh, Portal 2 was lacking in terms of imagination, despite throwing in neat little additions like repulsion gel, tractor beams and light bridges. Being set in the run down lab from the first game doesn't help much either, with the colour pallet being little more than a dull brown or a gun metal grey.

But with that out of the way, there is still a sense of satisfaction in completing many of the test chambers, despite feeling repetitive toward the end, and the voice acting from the likes of Stephen Merchant and J.K. Simmonds is above par, adding a truly hilarious flourish to the action.

Many are already claiming Portal 2 as the game of the year. I'm not sure it's that good but it's a very well constructed puzzler.
