Well, there really wasn't any point during the evening where you didn't know what was gonna happen next but I can't say I was disappointed. With the exception of maybe Up, The Hurt Locker was undoubtedly the best film of the year and Bigelow was definitely the best director. Fuck Cameron and his $2.5 billion dollar magnum opus and fuck those gigabytes of blue people and CG forest. I digress…
My problem is that I haven't really seen many of the films nominated (for all awards, not just best picture) I can't really comment on Jeff Bridges' or Sandra Bullock's performances (although I quite liked her acceptance speech). Christoph Waltz was the best thing in Inglorious Basterds so I'm very happy for his win. Again I haven't seen Precious so I can't comment on Monique.
I love Michael Giacchino's music, I think he's up there with the likes of Thomas Newman and Clint Mansel as one of the most underrated composers in film. Very happy to see him win. His score for Star Trek was also excellent.
There's not an awful lot else I can say really other than ha-ha Cameron and fuck you Reitman (if Reitman actually made a film that holds even the slightest bit of interest for me, i.e.: NOT Juno and NOT Up In The Air, it may be less of a fuck you and more a get stuffed…arrogant ass). In the end, the best film and the best lady won. I mean seriously, where the fuck did the Hurt Locker come from? Couldn't be further from the likes of Point Break and Near Dark if it tried. It's a feat considering Bigelow's last film was K19: The Widowmaker.
Luke
I agree on all counts.
