Saw 3D (Kevin Greutert, 2010)
So the Saw series has (supposedly) come to an end and I'm somewhat loathed to say, being a constant and dedicated fan, even through the worst of the series (I'm looking at you parts 4 and 5), that it ends with a whimper, not a bang and it's all due to the rushed and disappointing finale.
But that's not to say it's utter tripe. Whilst it wont win over any new fans and if you're coming to the series at this point you wont know what the hell is going on but I considered it just shy of parts 3 and 6, my personal high points of the series ever growing array of sequels. Sure there's some "questionable" acting (the dude who played Special Agent Gibson was atrocious) and the climax is weak as hell (and somewhat obvious) but it breezes along at a decent pace and the traps are suitably nasty. Guts spill, eyes get punctured and people are burned alive. It may be simplistic and anticlimactic but, for the most part, it delivers in an unfussy manner.
I didn't even miss Tobin Bell too much. The man that is Jigsaw only shows up for all of two scenes.
